There are renovation examples which didn’t exactly turned out as expected, and there are examples which turned exact opposite. Take a look why is Mosi residence great example of renovations that resulted in awesome houses!

House Mosi is one of many awesome houses created by the Nico van der Meulen Architects. It is located in Oaklands, a suburb of Johannesburg in South Africa. Johannesburg is city with many beautiful houses created by the Nico van der Meulen Architects, including an amazing Kloof Road residence, which is definitely one of the best houses in the world.

House structure and design

The story begun when architects got descriptive brief from the client, stating that he wants them to create a single story home with urban atmosphere. The site already had old 1950’s house built on it, so architects decided to use existing structure and turn it into awesome new house. Since the owner wanted his new house to be built only on the ground level, architects got the opportunity to be extra creative with the floor plan. They decided to go with large double volume space in case that client decides to go for a vertical expansion in the future.  Floor plan is divided in to main areas, public and private.

To enter the private areas of the home, one must cross a bridge above a new internal water feature which breaks the public and private spaces, separating the entrance hall and study from the private home. In keeping with the owner’s brief to have a home with an urban and open feel, the interior and exterior entertaining areas have been blurred by sliding stacking doors that open up the whole facade.” – states official press release.

Awesome interiors for awesome houses

M square Lifestyle Necessities office was in charge to design and create interiors that fulfill this awesome house on the mission to make it urban and open. Specially chosen modern furniture and artwork were used to perfectly balance the feel of every room. Interior design was also focused on neutral color palette, which was necessarily in order to create rich and bold statements with focal points like the Domino coffee table and flower pattern ottoman. Natural wood elements were used to make atmosphere warm and comfortable, just like all awesome houses should have.
