Beautiful modern hillside house proves once again that living outside of the Downtown has multiple perks. Take a look what it’s like to live in Budapest.
Location: Hillside
White Cube House is is modern hillside house in Budapest designed by Hungarian architecture office ARX Studio. The house is located on the Gellért Hill, about 15 minutes from the downtown, overlooking the city and Danube river. The steep site of 1000 square meters created an opportunity to offer incredible 270° views, which lead architect on the project, György Gyöngyössy, along with his design team, of course took.
House design working with location
The house alone has 480 square meters of modern living space on four levels. Starting in the basement, architects designed modern audio and cinema room, big enough for parties or movie marathons. Ground floor consists modern living room in the front and medium-sized contemporary wine cellar in the back, where part of the house is built into the hill. Taking the opportunity of location, living space in form of dinning terrace with infinity pool is pushed out of the layout towards the city. First floor houses master bedroom and children’s bedroom with another terrace, designed to make shade for the terrace below. The house ends with a rooftop terrace imagined as a party zone with glass-walled sauna and large Jacuzzi.
Speaking of interiors, architects from ARX Studio created interiors as “the organic extension of the exterior areas” while the garden which surrounds the house plays the role of outdoor living area. Colors inside the house are also harmonized with the colors of the exterior facade.
